Our research focuses on the physiology and biochemistry of organ specific processes and how they interact at the whole-plant level. Investigations, so far, have involved everything from small herbs to crops and mature trees. The results have implications for crop farming practice and the well-being of natural ecosystems.
Additionally, we investigate the presence and potential role for phytohormones cytokinins in living species not related to plant kingdom, including bacteria, fungi, protists, and animals. We want to understand how other organisms may use cytokinins to communicate with plants and manipulate plant metabolism to their benefits.
Phylogenetic tree presented below contains representatives of over 50 species tested so far in our laboratory for their cytokinin profiles.
