In discovery of cytokinins.

Our research focuses on the physiology and biochemistry of organ specific processes and how they interact at the whole-plant level. Investigations, so far, have involved everything from small herbs to crops and mature trees. The results have implications for crop farming practice and the well-being of natural ecosystems. Additionally, we investigate the presence and potential role for phytohormones cytokinins in living species not related to plant kingdom, including bacteria, fungi, protists, and animals. We want to understand how other organisms may use cytokinins to communicate with plants and manipulate plant metabolism to their benefits. Watch Dr. Megan Aoki (Emery Lab alumna) explain more about our work in the discovery of cytokinins.

As seen on TV!

Big news! PhD Candidate Mark Seegobin is a featured guest on The Morning Show where he discusses the importance of phytohormones in the growth and development of plants, and the possible interplays with human physiology - notably, some possible connections with cancer. A Masters student at the time of recording, Marks early research propelled him into doctoral studies at Trent University.
